Hangin' Around Kaldor

I was in Kaldor recently,  taking part in the weekly fort siege.  I never knew what the schedule was, but it seems that I happened to be logged in at the right time.  It was last Sunday,  Oct. 2nd,  early afternoon, around 2 pm  PST,  which means that it's around 4 pm CST,  5 pm EST, and 3 pm MST. Those are the approximate times of the Wealhthow's Keep fortress siege.   You might want to arrive earlier just to be sure that you don't miss it.

My group helped to guard the Elyos gate from the Balaur that periodically spawn there.  I wasn't in the actually fort itself fighting the Deity.  Since I'm new to that fort's siege,  I still have to learn the routine.  The lag was tremendous at times,  so I really didn't mind not being inside the fort.  We won the fort, which brings me to the part that I wanted to tell you about....

After the siege is over,  you receive mail as you always do when you win a siege.  Usually it has kinah or medals as a reward for helping out.  This time it had something different for me:  a Title Card!  I finally figured out how the title "Kaldor Champion" is earned.  It's a multi stat title,  here's it's stats:

Attack Speed +1%
Casting Speed +1%
Speed +5%
Maximum HP +200


Some more good news:
After you equip your new title,  you can return to the fort and NPC Terenoa has 3 weekly Glory Points quests that you can now take.   These quests ask you to kill 20 mobs per quest and can be done solo,  but they can get done a lot faster with a group.  Here's a pic:

You earn 125 GP per quest,  a little xp,  and a Ceramium medal.  Most folks are interested in the GP because it's so difficult to get.

Wealhtheow's Keep Weekly Quest

Here's a quest I took when I decided to take a look inside Wealhtheow's Keep,  the fortress in Kaldor. I'd never been inside that fort before - last time I was in that area,  the fort was owned by the Balaur. I happened to be in Kaldor turning in a quest that I completed ages ago and forgot about.  I looked at the map and saw that the Elyos owned the fort,  so I had to check it out for myself.  Here's what it looks like:

It turns out that there's a weekly quest called "Jobs Beget Jobs" given out by the fortress NPC Gantis  that gives an ancient crown bundle and ancient coins.  I thought "why not?" and took the quest while I was there. The quest asks you to go to an area (also in Kaldor) called the Path of Reverance.  There you have to kill 15 mobs to complete the quest.   It wasn't very far to walk, but like a lot of places in Aion,  the transport could use improvement.   Kaldor in general needs better transport options imo.

This place is a chariot depot:  I've never seen it active and I'd really like to.  I guess it springs to life when there's a fort siege.  It has spaces for where chariots would park.  It was empty when I was here and the one time I've seen this place before.

And that's it.  It's a pretty easy quest to do if you happen to be in Kaldor and your faction happens to own the one and only fort in the region, lol.  Thanks for reading :)

Aion 4.7 Regions: Kaldor

This is the second article on the new regions added in the 4.7 update.  This article discusses the 2nd of 3 new regions added to the game,  Kaldor,  and how to get there.


Kaldor

From the very first time  I visited this place,  I realized one thing quickly:  it was built only for fort sieging.  There isn't much else going on there.  There's a fort, called Wealtheow Keep,  which goes live at a certain time (Fridays at 8:00 p.m. CST),  but when I logged on to attend the siege,  the fort wasn't vulnerable,  and was owned by Balaur.   The fort can be owned by any one faction up to 2 times in a row.

Getting There From Levinshor

Your first visit to Kaldor is arranged by a campaign quest,   and you're teleported there during the steps you take to complete that quest.  For Elyos the quest is called "Dismal Developments".  That was my first visit there,  however you can also port there from Levinshor.  The camps in Levinshor that have the Advanced Corridor to Kaldor are the North Relay and the South Relay.  The North Relay is for the Elyos and the South Relay for the Asmodians. Talk to NPC Olympon to take the quest "North Relay Relay".

I don't know if you actually need to complete the quest to use the port to Kaldor.  You can try and use it without taking the quest and see if it works.  If not,  then just complete the quest and you'll be able to teleport.

This isn't to say,  for example,  that the Asmos can't use the North Relay to port to Kaldor.  They can if they take the camp,  and vice versa for the Elyos if they take the South camp.  It's just that the North Relay is closer to the Lunewillow camp,  which is the safe zone for the Elyos,  and the South Relay is closer to the Asmodian safe zone camp.  Whenever I've been in Levinshor,  the South Relay has always been owned by the Balaur or Asmos,  so I've never used that teleport.


Getting There From Katalam

Kaldor can also be reached from Katalam.  Elyos can port from Saparinerk's Farm by talking to quest NPC Saparinerk and taking the quest "New Lands to Behold".  After completing the quest you can port to Kaldor by speaking to NPC Tarunerk,  who stands right next to him.

For the Asmodians,  the NPC to talk to is Rubirinerk,  on Rubirinerk's Farm.  The teleport NPC is Poprunerk,  who stands beside him.
